Can't go, Won't go...Part two

Our dear neighbour president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni celebrates 24years in power, Incidentally former President Moi was a special guest, for you pundits of history, the two have been close over the years, Museveni's daughters actually came to school in Kenya, It's only natural that some of Moi's habits rubbed off Museveni. During the recent ceremony , Moi endorsed Museveni for another term making Museveni the longest serving president in East Africa, He will definitely beat Moi's record of 24 years....

Can't go,won't go... Part one

Another embarrassing episode of clinging to power the African way, Nigeria's president Umaru Yar'Adua still leads one of Africa's populous and influential countries from his hospital bed, unconvincing assurances from his cronies in power do little to calm the population, a recipe for disaster indeed, maybe a matter of time before the top blows.
Aclassic case of power till death do as part

What a waste!

The Pnu arm of government thought it wise to publish a fullpage ad in the dailies detailing why The Prime minister's special adviser holds dual citizenship. I wonder how this is a relevant national issue, There was no such advert during the famine, matatu strike, flood from the recent rains....An insult to our intelligence

Muzzling the media

Here we go again...after what looked like an amicable settlement between the government and the media over oppressive regulatory laws, Government sneaks in the same clauses and gazettes them into law, the media is up in arms over this underhand tactic, love it or hate it, a free media is a fundamental pillar of democracy.

Witness protection

Recent media reports claim that post election violence witnesses are receiving death threats, With a non existent witness protection programme in Kenya, it is a very worrying trend...flashback a few years ago,key witnesses in the Ouko murder mystery are dead...

Political expediency

Former president Moi kicked off a storm when he claimed that the parcel of land he owns in mau was given to him as a gift by the Narok county council when William ole ntimama was mayor... Ntimama disputes this and claims he was arm twisted to allocate the said land, It is a well known fact that at that time Ntimama was fighting supremacy and turf wars in the greater Maasai community, being in Moi's good books was a big plus, on the other hand, The President allowed himself to be presented with a "gift" of gazetted forest land... All i can say is two wrongs don't make a right

IS AMERICA'S WAR ON TERROR WITHIN OR WITHOUT?

America continues to face terror threats more from within its borders, maybe its time for them to look deep inside what causes the increase of radicalisation.....
